Hello, I'm a high school cheerleader. I cheer JV and Varsity and our team doesn't do a whole lot. We don't workout or anything, so I was wondering is someone could tell me some drills/exercises/whatever-you-wanna-call-them that could help me improve my abilty. I'm mostly a tumbler and I fly on occasions when they need someone extra. Also, if you have any tips to give me that would be great. Any help will be awesome! (: Thank youuuu.

I would recommend doing a lot of cardio, strength (weight lifting), flexibility, and core work. It can help you in every aspect of cheerleading. Also, practice hitting tight motions by doing motion drills really helps how your cheers look and makes you look sharp and clean. For jumps, get one of the tall smart water bottles and practice doing t-jumps with it. By this I mean, stand behind the water bottle and do a t-jump. Have a friend sitting in front of it and mark where your toes were at the peak of the jump and continue practicing until your toes are over the top of the water bottle (this helps make your jumps really high)

Workout your lower body and abs. Abs are what make a tumbler and flyer or break them if you ask me. Without abs, you can't hold yourself up. Also, leg muscle is great for tumbling. Do squats, v ups, situps, squat jumps, pushups, the superman thing (where you lift your legs and upper body up and balance on your belly) and all of those kinds of things (: Good luck!
